Ultimate Guide to Game Collections
Ever heard of Lichess Studies? Or some kind of online tool/database used to analyze games, store them, and annotate them. Chess.com’s version of Chessbase? Chess Library! Welcome, to the ultimate guide on how to use Chess Libary. Oh boy this is going to take a loooooong time to write.
Creating a Collection
Let’s start with the main and arguably most crucial feature. Creating a collection. Basically starting a new study; creating a new set of chess games etc. To do, on the right there will be a big great button with white text called + Create New Collection. Click on that. Then name your collection to your desire.

Adding Games
”what’s a collection without anything? A collection of air!” - Me
How to add games? On the top right of your page, there should be a option on how you want to add games. For example, if you want some brilliant games of Magnus Carlsen, or Bobby Fischer, click that and search for the exact game. Or if your a more individualized person and would like to analyze your own mistakes, click search archive. It’ll give you a list of previous games. Or paste the url of the game. Or import a study. Infamously, you can paste lichess studies and chess.com will “translate” them into their own format. Guess they had to. Finally, less infamously, you can paste the FEN/PGN.

Other Options

Let’s also review other choices. Obviously you can make your collection public so everyone can view. Also is participants which is basically inviting your friends and they get a notification that you invited them. Cool. You can also add tags, like “openings”, or “important famous games” and so on. That might be useful depending on how you want to organize. Information is just, after you click, says the date and the user who created it. You can download the collection, or delete the collection.
