My latest performance in a OTB tournament
Hello everyone! I will be posting a lot more content on this blog soon!
Blog posts to look forward to in the future: Idaho State Championship and Tips to get better at Puzzle Rush!
This last Saturday I played in a 5SS G20 D5 tournament. Unfortunately this means it was USCF quick rated only and only 18 people showed up. At some point in some of the games I was in time trouble so I stopped notating my game. Some parts of the games below are off of memory and are time scramble. Remember! All ratings below are based off of quick ratings.
GAME ONE
This game was against an unrated opponent and was pretty quick.
Alright, that game wasn't very interesting but the next one is, and I am pretty upset I didn't find some key moves that would have won me the game before I got in time trouble.
GAME TWO
In this game my opponent is a 1800+ USCF regular rated, but his quick was 1569 *spoiler he also won the event with 4.5/5
That was a crazy game! The opening was really good for me and the middle game was messy, but I guess that's what you get when you play a 20 minute game ![]()
GAME THREE
Honestly my heart was still racing from the last game, and my head wasn't clear, so don't mind the terrible opening lol ![]()
So not a lot in that game either. The next game is kind of short, but I saved the best game for last so stick around!
ROUND FOUR
This next round was against an 1800 at his floor, but he isn't really used to the really quick format so it was a short game ![]()
Alright interesting game....kind of just cracked under pressure I guess. Now the fun begins!!
GAME FIVE
So going into this round I was the only person with 3/4 but there were 3 different people with a score of 3.5/4 so I played one of them.
RESULTS
In the end I finished clear second place with a score of 4/5 my rating went from a uscf quick rating of 1301 to a 1401. My only loss came from James Wei who got first place (4.5/5)
I hope you all enjoyed this blog and my tournament games!
As always feel free to comment down below what I could have done better in the blog/games!
