Checking yourself in for the draw
Checking yourself in for the draw
Recently I played a (bad) live chess game where I was losing (objectively speaking) even before the opening phase of the game had fully concluded. Since there was enough play left to go on, I decided to go for the draw.
I sacrificed a bishop on h3 already envisioning a perpetual check, but it might not have worked until my opponent stepped into it. Fritz believes the game is drawn from about move 22 and onwards, which I found to be quite reassuring. I may not have played the most beautiful game of chess, but at least the draw is pretty!
