The Spaces in Between
Just a quick update on my chess life...
the rest of my chess life has gotten so busy over the last 5 months that I have stopped working with a coach. I've actually had to give up a lot of things to make sure I a doing right by work, family and my own mental health. But there are seasons to things and I know I'll have more time sooner than later for deeper study.
That doesn't mean I am not playing though.
I am still studying on Chessable and doing what I can in the Chess Dojo program.
I have broken 1k Rapid on this website no less than 3 times. It might be 4. I am trying to get established over that mark and what I do make time for is directed at that goal.
Meanwhile, I am still running the chess club at the school where I teach. It's a small group of kids, mostly freshmen and juniors. They are really nice and bunch and are interested in study in addition to just playing.
I'm struggling to find regional OTB tournaments to play, though I might have one that is possible in April. Not much is happening immediately around me, and I don't have the energy for trying to set it up myself. There seem to be some casual play groups in the area that I plan on going to visit.
Geez, now that I think about it, I'm actually doing a lot. It's just the coach bit. I guess that's a goal for the new year.
