For the second consecutive round of the Altibox Norway Chess Tournament, only one game was decisive. In Round 2 the lone winner was Vladimir Kramnik, who bested the man that wrested the World Championship title from him. Viswanathan Anand had the white pieces but could hardly make a dent in the ever-solid Kramnik's position. Although he worked hard to equalize, Anand played incorrectly in a queen and rook ending. The rooks were swapped and Kramnik ground down his opponent, but not without numerous mistakes.

Round 3 resumes on Thursday, June 8th as Magnus Carlsen (1.0/2) takes on Hikaru Nakamura (1.5) and Kramnik (1.5) faces Wesley So (1.0).
