How 10 years old wins Top Grandmasters.
Dear Chess friends,
In this post I am going to share some interesting games of my student Ryo Chen.
About Ryo: He is 10 years old National Master with USCF 2263, winner of many tournaments, number 1 player under 10 years olds. Ryo is my true prodigy since i started with him from unrated and in 18 months turned him to NM player. What is really important to me in this story that I could immediately realize big potential and big future for him. Remember, after first class with him I said to his father that he can become very strong chess player and i am positive in very short period of time. He could not even dream that it will be in 18 months only to become NM for unrated player with no tournament experience. Moreover when I insisted to play World Cadet under 10 after few lessons he thought I am kidding and Ryo can not compete with very experienced players. World Cadet he played for the first time in 2018 being 8 years old and was one of the leaders after round 6 with 5 points and playing on board number 1. Indeed, lack of experience held him from top 3 places but he played decent chess, left big impression on all of the participants, coaches and that they should remember his name. )
Some of the tournament achievements of Ryo:
1. North American U20 2020 4th place 6.5/9
2. Chesskid Youth Speed Chess Championship. 1st place
3. Texas State Scholastic 2019 1-st place
Ryo is surrounded with all Top GMs in this tournament.
Lets take a look at some Ryo's games against top Grandmasters.
