Phases in learning chess, Phase Eleven

Writing about the social aspect is where this blog was the last time, only vaguely related to the actual game. Though chess clubs probably have been around quite a while. At least a lot longer than all of us. Will get back to that somewhere along the way. First a little success of mine without even winning. Although some draws do feel like wins...

On to the continuation. This time an actual game of mine. My first minor succes versus a chess master, be it an NM so a National Master. Seeing the daily rating of several masters on this site, correspondence chess may not be their biggest strength. But still I made a little jump for joy after this game some years ago:

Back then the analysis tool wasn't as advanced as now. So it was only years after till I really analysed this game. I was pleasantly surprised by the accuracy on my part. I always had a feeling this was a lucky one for me. But according to stockfish this actually was a strong game!

Just look at the whole analysis:

To be honest I always wondered why it was forced, but if he got closer I also could have got my queen into the battle since he opened up that path with 35. g4 ...
Actually this was not my most beautiful game, nor the highest rating I defeated. But it felt great keeping a chess master from defeating me.

Next time: The three highest rated opponents I defeated in daily chess...
