The Best Game Of All Time--Readers' Choices
In my previous blog post, I asked the question of "what is the best game of all time?".
Of course, it all depends on how you define best. Readers were quick to jump in with their own choices, and it climaxed at etc2000chess selecting a zero-move game, claiming that it was the best game ever played because it had zero mistakes!
Here are some of my favorites out of all the comments:
#1
Kasparov vs. Topalov, 1999
Kasparov's 15-move combination has given it the title of "Best Game of All-Time"
#2
Byrne vs. Fischer, 1956
A nice Queen Sacrifice by the 13-year old Fischer!
#3
Botvinnik vs. Capablanca, 1938
#4
Saemisch vs. Nimzowitsch, 1923
In the final position, white is in zugzwang, with many of the pieces still on the board! Exceptional!
#5
Aron Nimzowitsch vs. Siegbert Tarrasch
A nice Double Bishop Sacrifice by Tarrasch!
These is my Top 5 List of the best games of all time. It was difficult to decide with millions of brilliant games, but I think that my judging has been quite fair.
Tell me what other games you liked in the comments! And don't forget to read my previous blog post where I posted some more candidates (none of which, unfortunately, got into this post).
Thank you for reading, and a special thank you to all those people out there who contribute to my 36,000 total reads in the past 9 weeks (the biggest total number of reads on chess.com as of current)!
See you next time
