Competition can be healthy or unhealthy depending on the results in the emotions of the players. All games have some degree of competition. When I play chess or any other game or compete in tests of any kind be it for job or education, I am mostly competing against my own faults and limitations. I don't believe in giving up as soon as it appears I may lose. I am happy for people when they win...and I am happy when I win at times, as I hope they can be happy for me. Rarely I end up with an opponent in blitz where they are extremely agitated when I don't resign as soon as I make a wrong move. I am here to study the art of chess not the art of giving up. I hope all can understand my feelings on this.
