Pay attention to the origins...
I don't celebrate many of the "holidays" that modern society dictates. I believe it is important to know why things are done and not mindlessly follow the majority. ~ "And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God." ~ http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=philippians%201:9,10,11&version=NIV

Valentine's Day History: Roman More than a Hallmark holiday, Valentine's Day, like Halloween, is rooted in pagan partying.
The lovers' holiday traces its roots to raucous annual Roman festivals where men stripped naked, grabbed goat- or dog-skin whips, and spanked young maidens in hopes of increasing their fertility, said classics professor Noel Lenski of the University of Colorado at Boulder." .... "It is clearly a very popular thing, even in an environment where the Christians are trying to close it down," Lenski said. "So there's reason to think that the Christians might instead have said, OK, we'll just call this a Christian festival."
The church pegged the festival to the legend of St. Valentine."~ http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/02/090211-valentines-day-gifts-history.html
