how??????? (aka the Fool's Mate that led to a Check Mate)
So, while trying to beat Rhonda, I decided to warm up on a game with Maria (1000 Elo).
And then THIS HAPPENED:
In case it isn't clear, I played a purposeful Fool's Mate (https://www.chess.com/terms/fools-mate) against the Free Intermediate herself, in order to lose and see what she had to say. But she DID NOT PERFORM THE QUEEN MOVE TO CEMENT HER WIN. Instead, she focused upon taking both of my pawns, which resulted in a Rook-Queen Checkmate.
And that's when I asked how Maria could turn the tables so quickly. From starting out with an easy victory to LOSING not even 40 moves later. (I also asked myself HOW a turtle (Tim, 800 Elo) was harder than her.)
And it's not like the Fool's Mate is hard to perform, either. Take Martin (250 Elo).
Performing a Fool's Mate on him leads to this...
Was it not clear enough?
MARTIN KNOWS HOW TO ACCEPT A FOOL'S MATE AND WIN EASILY - WHICH IS BETTER THAN WHAT MARIA DID.
That's an Easy Win in the books. Welp, onto Rhonda the Rhino again. She's smarter than Maria, that's for sure.
