Southern Cross University - High School Invitational 2017
Zachary Taylor of St John's College Woodlawn holds the perpetual plague as the 2017 chess champion at the 5th annual High School Invitational tournament held at Southern Cross University. Isaac Wood (left) took 2nd place, and 3rd place went to Harrison Barlow (middle).
The 6-round Swiss-style tournament had 32 players competing (including 1 teacher) from SJCW and Kadina High Campus on Fri 10-Nov-2017. The day highlighted good play, a friendly atmosphere, and successful strategies for brand new players. Lunch included informal rounds of Transfer Chess.
The club looks forward to working further with local schools in 2018, and will continue to Team Match against other universities.
