Hello fellow chess player,

In todays lesson we are going to look at how to play with Hanging pawns in my second pawn structure in this course out of 16 structures. My last one was the Isolani or Isolated Queen pawn. My future one's will include King's Indian Defense, Slav, Najdorf, Dragon, French Defense and more. Some of these will have multiple parts like the Najdorf, KID, and French, so so stay tuned.

Hanging pawns comes out of d4 openings such as the Queen's gambit declined. It is one of the most common pawn structure like the Isolani. Below is a few thing you will need to know, even if you don't play 1.d4

White's plans:

1.Create a kingside attack with Ne5, Bc2-Qd3 battery, and a rook transfer to the 3rd rank. For example, Re1-e3-h3 attacking h7 along with the Qd3-Bc2 battery.

2. d4-d5 break to make a passed pawn or open lines for and attack

Black's plans:

1. Trade pieces to stop the attack

2. Pressure the center pawns and block them if possible best with a knight.

3. Attack the center pawns with either e6-e5 or b6-b5

My next structures in my course are the Slav and Carlsbad which will be the last of the d4, non king's Indian Defense structures. After those I will give you 8 annotated games. 2 for each structure.

Thankyou!
