My first OTB tourney! Call an ambulance, but not for me!
Notice: This blog is not intended to offend any ambulances in this blog. Thank you!
And I've done it! Finally went to an OTB tourney! And guess what? I didn't lose any games!! I somehow won all 3 of my games. Bad news? I was paired with 100 rated players
. Anyway, let's start covering my (surprisingly enough,) blunderless tourney!
Before the tourney
When I woke up at about 7:30 AM (omg imagine me saying PM lol) I was very excited about the tourney. I quickly woke up and started studying my prep I had planned out. Turns out I didn't need any prep so sadge
.
I studied chess for an hour or two, then my parents woke up. When my parents woke up I literally BEGGED to go to ihop since ihop is just delicious. To my relief they said yes, so we went to ihop yey.
For some reason it was the first time I ever saw my local ihop crowded and we were barely able to find a seat. But the worry was clearly worth it when the food came
.

So after that my family went home but my dad didn't let me study because he didn't want me stressed :0. My parents made me take a shower and then I played on my electric drumset. After that me and my dad went to the tourney.
The tourney took place at a very modern hotel. When we got to the so called "event center" it was literally BONKERS. There were dozens of kids playing chess in a corner, then there were tons of people just yelling and playing tag. Then there was a good half dozen kids in the bathroom playing tag too. In other words, it was insane.
My dad couldn't find out where to register so we asked some staff guy, he told us the guy's name so we went to the room where is desk was. Turns out he was on lunch break and he literally came back when there was 5 minutes before the tourney started XD. My dad barely registered me on time. Soon after that the tourney started. Also before I tell what happened in my rounds there is random info below.
Format+random info
Quick note is that this wasn't a normal tourney. It was a quad actually. The time control was supposed to be 25 minute with 5 second delay, funny thing was that the TD didn't provide us clocks so we had unlimited time in the tourney. Only one person brought a clock lol. Also since I was unrated I was in the group with 100 rated ppl lol.
Round one
I was quite shocked when I saw my first round opponent. It was a young little girl. I was quite worried because I didn't want to be against a 5 year old prodigy 🤣
It was an intense game but simple mistakes like 6. Bb5, 14. h3 and other mistakes like this cost my opponent the game. Onto the next round!
Round 2
I don't exactly remember my round 2 opponent but however, I remember how easy the game was lol. In the last 2 games I won't be annotating much lol.
