This is one of the many ways to checkmate your opponent.

This one here is a simple checkmate used by many players around the world. Here, white uses his king effectively.

Here White has checkmated Black again.  He has blocked the file where black king is AND blocked the file in front, meaning black has nowhere to move, meaning it's a "Checkmate."

This is similar to the first example. In this diagram, he his checked, and he cannot take out the queen because of whites king. This checkmate is easy to do and mostly done after all other pieces have been taken out(opponents pieces) meaning Black can defend.

Here the diagonal files are blocked by the bishops and the queen, causing unexpected checks, ultimately winning the game by CHECKMATING your opponent.
