My Chess Games 01
I played in a couple of standard OTB tournaments last month. Had spent quite some time on tactics and studying endgames and was hoping for a little improvement in my performance. Although I only lost 3 rating points overall, I was very disappointed with my games.
I Scored 5.5/9 (last opponent didn't show up!) in the first and 4/9 in the second which the latter was an U2100 event. Although in both tournaments time control was 90+30, time trouble was my biggest enemy! I had shaky openings in some games, made wrong middle game plans in some other and blew some chances in the endgame.
In a good percentage of the games, I went below 5 minutes and gave away a few points. Like this one:
Once got lucky when I was in time trouble though and the opponent - which was way stronger than me had some 40 minutes. Lost a pawn and an exchange in the opening, instead of resigning I went kamikaze and in the chaos managed to equalize. Didn't last long to blow it again and just when I was about to throw in the towel and go for the handshake, my opponent blundered:
