Murfreesboro Chess Club Reopens!
New Rules & Protocols
The Murfreesboro Chess Club is reopening in a unique time, transitioning from the full-on pandemic to a place of relative cautiousness . The new rules and protocols will reflect our respect for the policies set forth by the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and our concern for the health and safety of our fellow players. The Chess Club is a special place for all of us to share our love for the game, so in keeping with these positive ideals, we will start with an honor system. Basically, if you have been fully vaccinated for Covid-19 you are not mandated to wear a mask, unless your opponent requests that you do so. If you have not been fully vaccinated then you are expected to wear a mask during your time at the club. Please read the full details below.

- Please do not attend if you aren't feeling well.
- Regardless of vaccination status, players are to bring a well-fitted mask, which covers the mouth and nose properly.
- Ring the doorbell at the bottom of the stairs for entry.
- Everyone's temperature will be taken with our no contact thermometer at the door.
- Patrons cannot enter if they have a temperature registering a 100 degrees or higher.
- If you have been vaccinated you may generally choose whether to wear your mask, unless your opponent asks you to wear it.
- If your opponent asks that you wear a mask you will be expected to honor their request.
- Those who haven’t been vaccinated must wear their mask for the duration whenever they are within 35 feet of the nearest person.
- Anyone using a mask must wear it properly to cover their mouth and nose at all times.
- There should be no shaming for those wearing a mask.
- Players should wash or sanitize their hands before and after each game, and exhibit good hygiene throughout.
- Those who are 16 years or older, and have driven themselves to the club may adhere to the general rules and protocol as the adults.
- The same goes for kids 12 and older who are there with another player who is providing their transportation.
- All kids under 12 must wear a well-fitted mask for the duration, and exhibit good hygiene.
- All kids under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is to stay with them for the duration of their stay.
- Lets try to limit one board per table with the tables spaced out.
- If you feel like you cannot adhere to the new rules and policies, please come back when the rules have changed to your liking.
- These rules are subject to change without notice, based on any new assessments.
Chess Club starts @ 7:00 PM CST and ends @ 10:30 PM CST
We will try to provide hand sanitizer in a centralized location.
The Chess Club equipment will be disinfected before and after Chess Club.
