Playing Daily Chess

Hello dear reader,

today I want to write about one of my most favourite game modes which a lot of players don't like: daily! Let me tell you some things I love about it and in the end maybe you have a different view on it and want to try it out too in the best case.

In the beginning I tried out daily and got annoyed about the slow rating gain which is unsual compared to the other time controls but I failed to realize something important: daily is different but different doesn't have to be bad. Not every time control has similarities, they can all be special in their own way.

Daily has some weaknesses, sure, but correspondence chess also has some big strengths. You don't have time to play a chess game right now or you don't want to concentrate for 20 minutes (10+0 as example) ? No problem, there is daily. You can always make a move/moves when you got some time and feel like it. But you can also take your time and do it later.

You feel like sometimes you don't have enough time to analyze a position like you would do it in over the board chess (classical)? In daily you have enough time to analyze a position as deep as you like and recognize all tricks and tactics there are. You don't feel like analyzing a position for 5 minutes or more? Then just make a move, it is correspondence chess after all (you can choose how much time you spend per move)!

On top of that you can play as many games at the same time as you want and explore so many different and diverse positions. Of course not everyone feels comfortable playing 100+ games at the same time so maybe 10 daily games are enough for you, but think about trying daily out.

This is a good timing for me to tell you about daily tournaments. A good way to get some daily rating and having even more fun is joining daily tournaments. Firstly you can go to https://www.chess.com/tournaments/all?type=upcoming&sort=start_date which gives you a big variety of tournaments which are usually group based with the 1st place in the group advancing in most tournaments. Secondly you can join clubs on chess.com and then search for open daily matches in your club to fight for your club. Of course it can be a bit annoying that some of these tournament games and tournaments take a long time, daily isn't perfect.

Maybe you will have fun like me playing daily, maybe you won't and your opinion hasn't changed. But if only a few more people play more daily chess, I will be happy happy.png.  Don't forget to comment if you would like to share your opinion on this topic and thanks for reading my blog!

See you next time guys o/
