Hello. This is Sep-Gol, writing a blog.
Introduction.
The chessboard is neatly set up. All you have to do is win to become 1st place. You go outside, grab a meal, stretch, talk to your friends, and all that. But you forget you had to study your openings. You try to remember your lines, but you can't do it. Something is stuck in your head.
You hear the words, "Never Gonna Give You Up!" But you tell those words to go bye bye. You focus, use a breathing technique, and think,"Ready to do this."
You go to the board, and start the clock. The opponent blitzes out the Pirc. What to do?
You decide to go with your gut.
The game:
The opponent tries to intimidate you by growling, but you stand strong.
You know you should develop, but what piece? You think, and you play
You think of moves that improve. The pawn b4 threat that will be coming is annoying so you play a3.
The middlegame.
You walk up, go to the restroom, and talk to yourself. You think, "What can I do after his move?"
You come back to the board, and the only thing you think is about..... Rick Astley?
Right! And now, the words, "Never Gonna Give You Up" are clearly ringing in your head. You throw the words out.
You think, "How can I bring my rook to the game? You decide e5 is a good move in this position. But doubt fills in. Then you remember a game in this position. You think the player as white played Rhe1.
The Intense Moment.
What move should you play? Just then you remember a game with this exact position. The player as white. What did he play? You play the right move after a bit of thought.
You think you've gotten your opponent. Qxe7, Qxd4+, and wins! But Kb6...
The Endgame.
You think of different moves, but one that pops into mind is c3+. You think of it, and you play it.
Your opponent resigns here, not wanting to see more. Then, he suddenly throws pieces at you, and throws the board on the ground. He stomps out of the room. (P.S. Topalov obviously didn't do that, he is much nicer.)
One of the pieces hits your face! It falls on the ground and CRACKS. Oh no! But suddenly, you see a crumpled piece of paper. To your surprise, it has the autograph of Garry Kasparov.
You start celebrating back at home. You check this game. And you see a game exactly like it, Kasparov vs Topalov. And then, you start singing "Never Gonna Give You Up" just to let the words out of your head.
Moral!
Even though there is only one Garry Kasparov, you can study his games, and try to play like him whenever you can.
You might become a Karry Gasparov instead.
I hope you enjoyed this blog, and I also hope you study your classics after this blog, because they can easily help you.
Thank you, and ADIOS!
