Waiting for a 'Go'

It's a weird feeling, indeed, when you're waiting for news of something important, but when it entails wondering if you've made the cut for your national team to an historic FIDE tournament, overseas: namely, the 2nd FIDE Olympiad for People with Disabilities, well that's different. (If anything, it gives the time spent waiting, a far more impossible-to-ignore quality, as the days begin to drag on, without any word.) Family and friends, meanwhile, keep asking if there have been any updates—which of course there haven't, or they would know, already—as you strive to maintain your composure, nonetheless, while still not hearing back. "Soon, soon." you think to yourself, but it's a nerve-wracking prospect, all the while, as you try not to stare a hole through your screen, whenever you check your email for news.
