July's Blitz 'n' Memes
Welcome everybody, to another, "oops, my queen is gone.", edition of Blitz 'n' Memes.
If you're a fan of puzzles taken from amateur online blitz tournaments, then you have come to the right place, because that is what I do.
As always, the tactics have been selected from the Japan Chess Federation's monthly blitz tournament: TGIF Blitz. The tourney takes place on the 3rd Friday of every month, 21:00 JST, right here on chess.com. It consists of seven rounds of blitz, with a time control of 3+2; and is open to all JCF club members.
The Memes on the other hand were spotted in the dark corners of the InterWebs.
This month's offerings of tactics are difficult yet doable. Good luck getting all 5 correct on the first attempt.
So, without further ado, let's get to the Blitz 'n' Memes.

Offending or Defending
Our first tactic is from the 2nd round, HinaKaki, playing White is left with a difficult decision, to defend or offend?
Defend your hanging rook or take a free pawn? Decisions, decisions...

Mistaken Attack
In the first round, Sakura_Toujours, playing White, is able to put together a mating attack, all thanks to a small mistake from Black.
Black should have played ...Re3 in order to trade off the Rook, how can White punish this mistaken attack?

Geometry Lesson
In the fourth round, HinaKaki, playing White, was able to give Black a private consultation on the virtues of the sacred geometry.
If you work out the angles this puzzle is quite simply, its also incredibly complicated...that's how the sacred geometry works.

Side-Action
Our fourth tactic, comes way of the 1st round, IM rnanjo, playing White, corners the Black king, and decapitates him.
White's artillery is targeting one side of the board, what to do with it?

Everything Everywhere All at Once
Our last tactic is from the fifth round, and is named after a pretty good movie, Zuto_mayon, playing White, was able to pick this combination out from a number of possibilities.
Chess is complicated, good luck with this one.
And that was it, that was July's Blitz 'n' Memes.
Congrats to HinaKaki for winning with a perfect 7/7 score...
And more importantly congrats to you few puzzle masters who found all 5 puzzles on the first attempt, you are the best of us.
As always, thanks for reading, and feel free to share these puzzles with you friends down at the library or Coldplay concert.
Cheers, SheldonOfOsaka.

P.S. I have a bunch of chess merchandise available at my online shop, if that is of interest to you invite the "Click Button" to a friendly game of chess, accused them of cheating while offering no proof.
