Blogging on chess.com
Welcome to my blog. In this blog, I will talk about blogging and its features. I will talk about starting a blog, features, saving or submitting the blog and even write how to start and finish a blog, starting with what blogs are.
We write blogs for sharing what we know that is already not known, I prefer writing blogs related to chess for chess.com blogs. They can be of one line, short or long.
Parts of a blog
This is how a blog can be written.
We see a picture related to the blog on chess.com if the user has put it up. Otherwise, his avatar or a pawn.![]()
Starting a blog.
If you click on the blog option on the homepage, you see a list of top blogs. Then, the options are available of all blogs, top bloggers, my blogs (this link shows the blogs I wrote), my drafts and blog settings.
This is the appearing screen when you click on the create post option.
This is the window for current blog.

Let's check out the details included in words. Starting off with this blog.
Picture:
Name of the blog: Blogging on chess.com
Permalink: https://www.chess.com/blogs/ShriyansTheKing/blogging-on-chess-com
Language preferred: English
Credit/caption: This is a perspective taken from a tab.
Let's take a look at blog editor of main body.
It looks like this.
The toolbar looks like this.
Let's see what happens if we press the game button.
The first screen appears like this.
We can insert a game from starting position,
a game from custom position,
a game collection,
games from game history (adding drawn games till today)
and import a study, PGN, FEN or a file.
Adding things to a game
We can add move feedbacks to the moves
How can they be used
We can showcase something important that can happen in a game,
add an offline game that I played,
and give a puzzle or game with different starting and ending points and points to focus.
The insert image button
If we press this button, this is the first screen appearing.
In this option, we can add the images saved and even gifs. We can give credit or caption to our image.
Suppose if you have saved to preview the game and want to show it as a gif, you need PGN of that game. If you don't know how to write PGN of a game or an error message is shown after writing the PGN, we have three ways to do it - the simple, the medium and the complicated way (the complicated way is not supposed to be shown in the blog post).
The easy way
The table shows how to remember the steps.
| Steps | First alphabet | related word to suit the sentence |
| Options option on the game | O | Only |
| Share option | S | Sources |
| Gif option | G | Give |
| Download | D | Detailed and |
| Edit | E | Entire |
| Insert image | I | Information |
| Find and select the gif | F | Found and then |
| Load | L | Load. |
I mean: Only sources give detailed and entire information found and then load.
The medium way
The medium way includes the copying of PGN instead of gif and a gif maker.
The complicated way
It includes a piece of paper to see the more and write FEN and moves, which is not preferable for gif with more than 10 moves. For long gifs, I prefer using the simple or medium way.
The emotions button
If we press this button, this is the first screen appearing.
In this panel, you can insert emotions, chess pieces or things related to chess.com. Check out the table to see them.
| Emotion class | 5 examples of each |
| Emotions | |
| Chess pieces | |
| Others |
Now, if you have a flair that is available among these emotions, you can use it after your username, such as mine:
ShriyansTheKing
/
(I choose white king because I won more games as white.)
The insert media button
When we click on this button, this is the screen appearing.
It is very easy to add a video after you save the source code. Once you write the source code, the width and the height will be given on its own depending on the dimensions of the source code of the video.
Insert, edit and break link buttons
When we click on the insert link button, this is the first screen appearing.
In the sentence given below, we can make this clickable.
Read this forum to check out if you are beginner in the blog.
First we paste the URL, the text to show and the tab to open. Then we can click on save to create a link, like this.
After this much editing, the sentence will be like this:
Read this forum to check out if you are beginner in the blog.
We can even use @ShriyansTheKing as a link to show an account.
We can use the break link button to break the link.
Bullets and numberhands
These options are used to list some things, such as
My favourite community participations are:
In bullets:

If we click on this button, the first and second screen appearing are:

3 * 6 or columns: 3:: rows: 6:
We can go to advanced section and colour the table if we want.
And we can edit text. While editing you can see a format toolbar.
There are certain buttons in the toolbar. These are:
- Edit table looks: we can edit the appearance of the table
- Delete table: we can delete the table
- Add row above: we can add a row above the selected cell
- Add row below: we can add a row below the selected cell
- Delete row: we can delete the row with the selected cell
- Add column towards left: we can add a column towards the left of selected cell

Saving, previewing and publishing a blog
We click on save and preview when the blog is too long, we have not finished the blog all to check out the mistakes which cannot be checked out in blog editor.
We publish the blog once we are done with our blog and corrected all mistakes. It is send the blog to all blogs or top blogs if we are a top blogger.
Starting a blog
I have started ShriyansTheking's and ShriyaTheQueen's every blog with "Welcome to my blog." This message should be there in your blog as a first line to introduce the readers. After this sentence, you can start with "In this blog, I will talk about...", "Today, I will talk about..." or with a question related to the topic. This welcoming message makes sense. After that you can add contents of the blog. There are two ways to add them:
#1: Welcome to my blog. Today I will talk about the topic. I will also explain subtopic 1, subtopic 2, subtopic 3 and finish up with conclusion, starting of with subtopic 1.
#2: Welcome to my blog. Today I will talk about the topic. These are the subtopics to the explained today.
- Subtopic 1
- Subtopic 2
- Subtopic 3
- Conclusion
Main body: write things related to the topic
Finishing a blog
We can give puzzles if we want, such as:
Question and answer - how to activate our pieces
Position - is it winning, a draw or losing?
Puzzle - find moves to outsmart black.
Then we give out the conclusion. It is important to conclude the topic to finish the blog otherwise the blog will still remain incomplete according to professionals in blogging. Then we should thank the readers to read our Blog by simply writing thank you. Then we can finish of with our username, such as -ShriyansTheKing or -@ShriyansTheKing (I am using my username for example, you as an author must write your username.)
Puzzle
Make your username clickable (hint: write @ before your username)
Conclusion
Now you know what blogging is, how to write a blog and features of blog edit toolbar. Now you can give me a link to the blog which I may read and I thank you for reading my blog.
