Gukesh D was born on May 29, 2006, in Chennai, India, and he's already one of the brightest rising stars in the chess world. He started playing at a very young age and quickly turned heads with his rapid progress. In 2019, at just 12 years old, he became the second-youngest grandmaster in history, narrowly missing Sergey Karjakin’s record. Gukesh is known for his incredible focus, calm demeanor, and a surprisingly mature playing style for someone so young. In 2023–2024, he scored impressive wins against top-level opponents and earned his place in the 2024 Candidates Tournament, where he delivered a standout performance.
