The King is better than material- Helmer versus Josef Emil Krejcik
The below game is that of two people who are very little knows in the chess field- Helmer and Josef Emil Krejcik. I believe that Josef Emil Krejcik is a very good chess player and he is not getting credit for all his beautiful games. Hence, why I am writing an article on a game played by him which is beautiful and also short.
Not many people know of Helmer, who seems to be an amateur of that time. Only one game is found in his database and it is the one I am referring to.
Josef Emil Krejcik was an Austrian chess master, problemist, journalist and author. He was born in Vienna and participated in many tournaments before, during and after the first World War.
THE ABOVE IMAGE IS THAT OF JOSEF EMIL KREJCIK
This game involves sacrifices, Not of the queen but of other pieces to ensure the opening of the king's premises.
Here is the game that has not got much mention for, but is beautiful-
This adventurous game which features the White King going on a bit of a 'morning walk' can be explained like this-
Once upon a time there was a minor King who dreamed to conquer territories. He called his army the White Army. He decided to fight with a mighty strong King
who called his army the Black army.
This is how the battle went-
The White King ordered one of his pawns
to control the centre. The Black King
asked his Knight
to keep a watch on important places. The Knight
faithfully obeyed. The White King
asked one of his pawns
to conquer a side. The Black King
ordered one of his pawns
to surrender his life to the White Pawn
as he had a plan to get more for the Pawn
. The Pawn
gave up his life for the King
.The White King
was elated and therefore he ordered his pawn
to capture the opponent's pawn
as he thought is was free. The Black Knight
attacked the pawn
which was defended my White's other Pawn
.Black developed it's Bishop
to threaten a strong attack. The White Knight
defended it. The Black Knight
valiantly sacrificed itself for the opponents pawn
and was killed by White's Rook
. The Black Queen
attacked the White King
, Who was forced to start his 'morning walk' a little earlier than usual.A Black Pawn
controlled the centre and attacked a pawn
which was defended by the White Queen
.The Black Bishop
sacrificed itself and was killed by the White Queen
. The Black Queen
slayed one of white's pawns
in style.The White King
continued his 'morning walk' and his Bishop
was killed. He attacked the Black King
with his Queen
and Killed his Rook
.The Black Queen
attacked the White King
and the attack was defended by the White Bishop
.The Black King
ordered his Knight
to wake up.In this process, The White army who was greedy for members of the Black army killed the Black Rook
.The Black Knight
moved himself further towards the White King
.The King continued it's 'morning walk' and was attacked by the Black Queen
.The King
again 'enjoyed' his frolicking and was attacked by the Black Pawn
. He continued and alas, He was killed by the Black Bishop
.
