How to Play the Philidor Defense || "Scary Variation" / Anti-Philidor || Chess Openings for Black

Here is part two in my series on how to play the Philidor Defense, my favorite opening of all time. Some people call it passive. Some people call it slow. But I call it an opening with lots of potential... with one misstep by white, and black is in full control.

While in our previous video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZl0phd70l4) we discussed some of the main variations of the Philidor, today we are looking a bit closer into the "scary variation" of the Philidor, that occurs after white plays f4 early on in this position.

Now, I call this the "scary variation" as many Philidor players find it difficult to face without preparation. However, with enough practice and with enough variations under your belt, you'll see that the Philidor has a lot of resources to play against this variation and play for a win!
Want to play the Philidor but don't know how to deal with the "anti-Philidor"? For the full analysis of what to do, check out the video below!
