Sad news for readers of the New York Times chess blog 'Gambit' by Dylan Loeb McClain - it's coming to an end with immediate effect.

McClain explains in the comments to his extremely brief final post that he will still be working for The Times, writing columns and articles about chess, but these will be less frequent.

A sad end for a very worthwhile chess blog. Haven't the NY Times heard about Nakamura's win at Tata Steel? Shouldn't chess be getting a higher profile in the US as a result, not shunted even more to the sidelines?
