Different types of draw

There are lots of different types of draws and we will go over them now.

1. Insufficient Material-This is when both sides don't have enough material to checkmate the opponent. It could be 2 kings or both sides have a knight or bishop only. If there is only 1 pawn for white, then it won't be a draw as pawns can promote.

2. 50 move rule-This is when the game goes on for 50 moves without promotions, checkmates, or captures. But players can decide not to claim it and continue on. It is your choice if you want to claim the draw. In the example we assume the players claimed the draw.

3. Stalemate-This is the most common type of draw in which the opponent or you have no move to play while not in check. So, if you have no pieces and all the squares are blocked but you are not in check then it is a draw.

4. Threefold Repetition-This is when the same position repeats three times. There are also perpetual checks which allows you to force the repetition. It means the same position not same move so if white played the same moves but black doesn't then it's not a draw.

5. Mutual agreement-This is when both players want a draw and mutually agreed on it.

I hope you find this useful for your chess matches!
