Hello everyone! I figured that many of you (and me) have problems with tilting and losing 'loads' of rating points....And I found out the way to handle tilt and keep improving!! happy.png

But first, we need to know what is 'tilting'? - Tilting is when you lose a game and you get annoyed and you get 'out' of your comfort zone. Once that happens, you may want to re-gain your rating points and (as being out of your comfort zone and only thinking on how you went wrong) you may lose again and again hence tilting. Hey how did the leaning tower of Pisa stay standing? Now thats a GM... tongue.png

~How to handle: TILT~

  1. Don't play too many short games: You need time to think and evaluate positions! Bullet may be fun but blitz and rapid is way better!! happy.png
  2. Don't play too many games everyday: Try to only play from about 1-8 games per day so you can play your best. You don't want to get tired! If you get tired then you won't think well.
  3. Don't just spam the 'New Game' button when you lose: Take some time to look at your game you just lost... If it is an opening you like then take the time to develop it. Check what you could have done for next time and then when the next time comes, 'Seize your moment'
  4. Spend time training: Do lessons, watch masters play, do puzzles, and improve! YOU want to have fun so let the fun come, be open to new ideas and handle your game with care.
  5. Stay calm and focus: Don't think about just getting your points back and make to the next hundred. Focus on playing YOUR game, this matters most. Remember All of what you know and put those moves into action, even talk to yourself discussing a plan.

As you can see you are the only competition you have to fight against. Just take a deep breath.... and let those pieces get running! happy.png

Thank you all for reading! Let me know down below what you think and how are you doing with your chess. grin.png
