The History of Chess
Chess as a whole has been around for about 1'500 years and has grown from a few many shuffling wooden people around to a game that has a website with over 172 million followers (at this point in time that was the amount). The only problem is think many people know the true history of chess.
Chess was first created in India, in the year 500 C.E . It was first called Chaturanga by its earliest predecessors. Later it was introduced to Persia where the rules and shape of the game were modified. Later Chess spread through Islam countries and also Europe. It sat around as a game for a bit and gained popularity over the years. In the 15th century it hit Spain and Italy were the chess of the past was made into the chess we know today.

Chess competitive started in the middle of the 19th century where in 1886 Wilhelm Steinitz won the first Chess World Championships. This was a big step for the game of chess and many other great players came into the scene like Howard Staunton, Paul Morphy, and Adolf Andersson. Then chess hit the 20th century where chess competitive blew up and the International Chess Federation was created (FIDE) in 1924. FIDE became the organisers of the Chess World Championships 1948 and many more legends completed fiercely for the title of World Chess Champion, this includes Mikhail Botvinnik, Mikhail Tal, Bobby Fischer, and Garry Kasparov.
The day May 11, 1997 made chess history. This day was the day Garry Kasparov was beaten by one of the first and hardest chess computers in history, he won the first 6 game but then lost the second 6. Everyone was shocked, but this didn't say people were bad at chess, it said humans make mistakes but we are the greatest. Also Garry Kasparov beat the world around the same time.
