Philidor Defense (6th rank defense)

This involves the defending rook safeguarding the 6th rank and preventing the king from entering, once the pawn pushes to the 6th rank, you slide the rook back, giving checks from behind, securing a draw.

Lucena Position
This is a winning position for the side with the extra pawn, this is what the winning side tries to achieve. It is simply building a bridge for the king with rook blocking the checks and thus, winning the game.
Long Side Defense
This method is used when the philidor doesn't work. It revolves around putting the defending king in the short side and using the long side to give checks from the rook. The conditions are that the defending king should be on g7 (g8 would run into rook check), and there should be three squares between the attacking king and the defending rook.
1st Rank Defense
This is a pretty easy draw, when the defending king is in the 8th or 1st rank, and also in the knight's square, it is a draw.
Cling & Horwitz Defense
This is the method to go for if none of the defenses are available, It works on the basis of putting the defending rook behind the pawn disabling the attacking king to leave the pawn.
A combination
This one avoids the king to reach the last rank (Lucena).
This is a similar position with a different outcome, white uses triangulation, and hands over the move to black, then white moves the rook down to support the pawn and promote.
