Recap of the Vacoas-Phoenix Rapid Open 2025

This tournament was basically the Mauritius Rapid Chess Championships 2025, organized by my city Vacoas-Phoenix.

I caught a cold right before the event, so I wasn’t at my best. Still, I managed an OK performance: 4.5/6.

Highlights:

  • 🏆 Best Player of Vacoas-Phoenix (my city!) — big trophy!

  • Rd 1 & 2: easy wins

  • Rd 3: very unfortunate blunder — missed a simple tactic in a better position

  • Rd 4 & 5: solid wins

  • Rd 6: solid draw vs a CM

Overall, a good tournament. I won a prize without feeling great or playing great — grateful for that.
