My 960 Blindfold Simul Game vs GM Timur Gareyev

May 28, 2017, 5:14 PM |
March 20, 2017 I had the opportunity to play GM Timur Gareyev in a simul. Many of you guys are probably familiar with the 48 board blindfold simul he recently played in. This guy is amazing and has trained his brain to do things that no human being has ever accomplished. On this Saturday he took his game to a whole new level by voluntarily playing 8 of his ten games with 960 positions. He played four different 960 positions two games with each positions. If you thought playing normal chess blindfolded was hard then try playing 960 blindfolded!

It was truly an honor to play and achieve a draw against such a strong player. I look forward to seeing how he continues to stretch the limits of his brain in the future. As far as I know he is the first player known to attempt to play a 960 blindfold simul. If you ever get the opportunity to participate in any of his events I would encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity. In addition to being an amazing blindfold player he is an amazing teacher who is able to work with players of all different levels and has a great sense of humor as well.

If you have any questions about this game or comments please let me know? This is one of the few 960 games I have ever played and was a new experience.
