Hard Work is Key!
Hello chess fans, welcome to the first blog of SAS Statements!
Today I’ll be talking about an important topic, a key thing to remember when you are trying to improve your chess. As legendary Michael Jordan once said, “Some people want it to happen, some people wish it would happen, others make it happen.” Obviously, if we are trying to improve, we would want to be in the group of people who want to make their goals and dreams happen. But, the big question is, how DO people make it happen?
Well, my friends, the key is HARD WORK!
Let me give you a real life example: There once was a time where I was plateaued at 1800 uscf. I played many games, hoping that I would soon cross 1900. But I wasn’t getting anywhere, until I opened up a chess book (shoutout to Jermey Silman’s Reassess Your Chess!) and for once actually studied the games described, and constantly tried to understand the games and positions in it. Then I started doing tons of chess.com lessons and puzzles every day, something I never used to do. Soon after… BHAM! 1900 USCF, finally!
Just for fun, the game that broke my long and tiring plateau:
And there are, hundreds, thousands, millions, billions, zabilaboolions of examples that can prove how much hard work can do in one’s life. If you ever get the chance to meet someone famous or talented in anything, remember: They did tons of hard work to reach there. People like Michael Jordan, Steve Jobs, and many others have overcome enormous challenges and difficulties on their way to success.
So don’t be afraid to open up a chess book, or do some chess.com lessons and puzzles every day. If you have the correct attitude and mindset, as well as the will to do some hard work, you will definitely reach your goals!
Thanks a lot for reading my blog (I’m still getting the hang of all the features, lol) and see you next time!
