Among Us Chess Variant! (REAL)

The Among Us chess variant is perhaps mankind's greatest achievement, comparable to the greatest of all inventions such as the inflatable balloon or even polar bears. It is intended for OTB (Over The Board) play and does not require any special pieces. It adds a bit of chance to a game all about strategy, leading to some unpredictable games. Allow me to explain the rules:

-BASICS-

Imposters: Each player secretly chooses 2 of the opponent's pawns. You can write down the letters of the pawns if you do not trust your friends. These pawns are the "Imposters;" if both of the imposters die, you lose the game. Your opponent can move the imposters as they would any of their other pawns, including captures, promotions, and En Passants. You can capture the imposter as you would any other piece, but if they both die, you lose, so don't capture them unless you must.

Black chooses White's B and C pawn as their imposters, while White chooses Black's B and G pawns

Activation: Once you have captured your opponent's first queen (promoting a new one won't stop anything), the imposters activate. You can move an imposter pawn as if it is your own in the same direction as your other pawns (so it would go backwards for your opponent). This includes captures, En Passants, and promotion. If you promote an imposter pawn, it becomes your queen (or knight if you are feeling like Hikaru). If an opponent promotes an imposter pawn, it commits tactical suicide (it just dies).

In the following position where the Red Highlighted Pawns Are Imposters, white has captured Black's queen in a common line in the Four Knights: Scotch Variation Accepted. Since white has captured the queen, White's Imposters activate (the black pawns on b7 and g7). Black loses because they are forced to take White's Queen, but then the g-pawn imposter is threatening to take the rook AND promote to a new queen AND put the opponent's King in Check with the b-pawn following close behind

Checks and Checkmate: If your opponent's King is being attacked by your imposter pawn at the end of your turn, you must inform them that they are in check (same as normal). However, if your opponent moves into the attack range of an imposter pawn, you do not say check, you just capture their King and win the game. This means that if you say check and your opponent moves his King away from one imposter pawn but moves into the range of another imposter, you will just win by capturing the King. If you do a discovered attack and your opponent takes the attacking normal piece but not the imposter pawn, you will win likewise. Your opponent can still castle through or into the "Check" from your imposter pawn

Vote Kicking: ONCE during the game, your opponent can choose one of their pawns they believe is an imposter. That pawn dies and their turn is over. If it was an imposter, they regain the right to vote kick again during a later turn. If it was not an imposter, you tell them it was not an imposter and they can never kick a pawn again. If the imposter has promoted, you can no longer vote kick it.

Capturing your own pawn: If things are looking desperate, you can capture one of your own pawns that you think is the imposter the same way you would capture an opponent's piece. However, if the pawn was NOT an imposter, you instantly LOSE.

-PRO TIPS-

Do not choose your opponent's center pawns as imposters because then you won't be able to capture them and your opponent will have a massive center (well you can capture them, but you lose if both your imposters die, so that's that. Or maybe you have a brilliant strategy up your sleeve?)

Do not randomly move your imposter pawns. Your opponent can just vote kick it or capture it with a nearby piece. Once your imposters die, you lose!

Don't let one of your pawns that may be an imposter threaten to promote on the back rank unguarded, use a rook or something.

If you can capture your opponent's queen with your own and then promote or capture the enemy King the very next turn with a newly activated imposter, DO IT

And finally, don't be sus
