Tournament Review : 1st DPSS Classical Chess Tournament
I recently played a Classical Tournament after 2 years of not playing professional chess but I am back. If you guys don't know then I am Swastik Mathur and currently I am a Unrated chess player in all 3 formats , but till the end of this year I will try to get at least 1600 FIDE in all 3 formats.
About The Tournament
This is a Classical Tournament with 9 Rounds in total. It was held from 23rd March to 27th March in my city. There were 2 Rounds in a day , One on 10AM and the other on 3PM.
Day 1 (Round 1 and Round 2)
Round 1
This was gonna be my First Long game after quite sometime , It was against one of my friends named Akshat Mishra who is a 1400 on chess.com.
It was really Intense game but he blundered a pawn in the opening and I capitalized on that nicely but It was a Draw position (+0.3 for white). So we agreed for a draw and yeah the position was a draw when I inserted the last position on chess.com . This was probably one of the Longest game I ever played It began on 10AM and we came out of playing hall on LITERAL 2PM!! It means 4hr of chess. I also had a headache idk why but it was hurting a lot
Round 2
It was against a guy from Chhattisgarh (a state in India), and he played London. Already from the last match I was pretty tired so... yeah I blundered A LOT and I ended up losing that game
If u guys are wondering that why I am not showing you the games that I played , That's Because I didn't write them when I was playing (yeah , I know I am dumb) but I wrote my games whenever I played against a Rated Player.
After all the rounds I roamed around the venue and found out that there are 3 playing halls in which tournament was held :
Hall 3 (Noobs) : Table 130 to 81
Hall 2 (Average) : Table 80 to 40
Hall 1 (God) : Table 39 to 1
So I made my goal that I will play in Hall 1 at all cost.
Hall 1
Hall 2
Hall 3
Day 2 (Round 3 and Round 4)
Round 3
Finally I got paired against a rated player , he was a 1477 from Hyderabad named Praveen Chitteti. I was pretty nervous as it was my First ever game against a Rated player in classical format. Props to Shlok's (My buddy) Father who dropped us everyday and picked us up from the venue. but on this day we reached 15 MINS late!! only 5 mins away from walkthrough .

I wrote this game and this was losing for me but he blundered in the endgame and this is how it went I was having the white pieces
I was so surprised that he did so many mistakes in endgame and asked him and he said "ok ok" I didn't understood what he meant to say but yeah this was my first win against a rated in classical.
Round 4
This was pretty easy dub by me . If you go to chess tournaments you must know that there are some people who are just very disrespectful , they move pieces by slamming them on the board and press clock so harshly like they have 3 seconds left . Yeah I got paired against one of them
I don't quite remember the game but I remember some of it . I was playing with the black pieces and played alapin but in a very strange manner and his king was very weak so I just crushed him
So yeah I won both games on day 2 and this time I didn't have any headache
Day 3(Round 5 and Round 6)
Round 5
Yay! I got paried against another rated who was a 1436 from my city only. He was actually paralyzed and couldn't use his legs to walk. This was my game against him I was playing the white pieces.
Round 6
This round was also with a paralyzed kid , He was a unrated but he played very well . There was a point in the game when I thought that I was losing but he sacrificed his bishop (idk why) and I capitalized by attacking his king .

At the End of the game I was up a Rook and a Knight and he only had his king and guess what happened yeahh! I stalemated . I don't quite remember the game but he played the london and I played the steinitz Counter-gambit perfectly
This was the game that messed up my whole Tournament cuz if I would have have won this one I would have gotten 5 Rateds and get Classical Fide rating but I blundered so badly MAN!!
One more thing that got messed up It was that I was only 1 table away from Hall 1 and I messed up ![]()
