1. Try to Stop Opponents Pawns from Infiltrating if They Can Destroy Your Position
2. You should prepare for forks.
2A. If you don't prepare you lose a piece in a fork (Avoid)
2B. You can defend the square where the fork would be to prevent it.
2C. You could move the king before the fork (Not As Best As 2B)
3. Look ahead multiple moves
3.A. Look ahead for trades.
3.A.A Avoid check or checkmate during trades.
3.A.B You need to have a recapturing piece
3.A.C You need to make sure trades are okay for you, mostly including if there is a first capture before the trade
3.A.D Make trades go your way, but be ready if they might not
3.B Look ahead to earn an advantage or to avoid a disadvantage.
3.B.A If you don't look ahead you could lose pieces
3.B.B You can counterattack to balance it as a trade
3.B.C You can defend it to win or balance pieces being taken.
4. When You Fork, Pay Attention
4A Take the best piece in points.
4B If the king protects a piece do not take that one!
4C If there is a piece guarding the square to fork (mostly knights, sometimes bishops or pawns) don't take it!
4D. If the piece you are using to fork is more powerful than the piece you earn, and your piece will be sacrificed do not take it!
5. If you have more points (ex. up a pawn) then do equal trades because those points get emphasized in the endgame! Ps. Opposite happens too!
Those were the main tips, thanks if you read this! Hope you improve if you need to!
