"To improve at chess you should in the first instance study the endgame" ~ chess quote by Jose Capablanca

The endgame is where the outcome of the game is decided. Therefore, amateur players should spend more time on the endgame rather than the highly theoretical opening.

1: Move The King To The Center

In this position, white did not get his king centralized early on. Now he have to watch his pawns get gobbled.

2: Exchange pieces at the wrong time

In this position, black has two choices, trade rooks or not. Trading rooks does make the position more simple, but white will win. The white pawn is not on the six rank for black to use opposition. On the other hand, if black decide not to trade rooks, then it would have been a draw. It is because the black can always move behind the pawn and prevent the king from move away from the pawn.

3: Being greedy

White next move decides whether he will win or draw the game. There's two choices, capturing the black pawn or push his pawn.

1st choice: He was greedy so he decided to capture the black pawn. Though, he soon realized that capturing the pawn had bought the black king an extra tempo and the game drawn.

2nd choice: This time he learned not to be so greedy, so he decided not to capture the pawn, but pushing his pawn. Black tries to get the pawn. Unfortunately, the black king was behind a tempo and soon get checkmated.

4: Judging the position too quickly

White is up a huge amount of material. Yet, he still have to play a few more moves until it's checkmate. Without any doubt, he chose to queen the pawn right away. The next thing he know that the black king have to legal moves.

5. Resigning without calculating thoroughly

Many players especially beginners playing as white would no doubt feel this is resignable position. Unfortunately for them, this position is drawable for white with precise play. It might be difficult to analyze the entire thing, but never give up until the final second.

I'm planning on making a chess blog website. Do you have any recommendations for the name of the website?
