5 things that will ACTUALLY get you over 1000 elo!
5 Habits That Will Actually Improve Your Chess Rating
~If you feel like you're doing everything you can to improve your chess but you're still stuck, maybe you're doing the wrong things. These are very simple, basic things. But the actual thing you need to do is... apply them, not just skim this article and forget about it. I know, bummer.
- Stop memorizing openings. Develop your pieces, control the center, and make sure your king is safe. That's all you need in the opening for now.
- Do tactics every single day. It doesn't have to be hours. It could be 30 minutes, 15 minutes, as long as you're consistent.
- Analyze your losses. One analyzed loss is going to teach you a lot more than five mindless wins.
- Learn basic endgames. You might find yourself in a winning endgame and then fumble it completely because you don't know what to do.
- Play longer games. Bullet and blitz are not going to teach you a lot about chess. You need to play longer games where you're making informed decisions, not just making moves.
If you do all of these consistently, I swear your rating will follow. For the full breakdown, check out the video on my YouTube channel!
