The Sicilian defense is the first opening i learnt when i started taking chess more seriously 

The Sicilian Defense is a chess opening that begins with the following moves: 1. e4 c5 The Sicilian is the most popular and best-scoring response to White's first move 1.e4. Opening 1.d4 is a statistically more successful opening for White because of the high success rate of the Sicilian defense against 1.e4.

The Sicilian defense is often undermined for its simplicity ,but it is a very powerful opening ,when used correctly like most openings ,the Sicilian can be very powerful when followed by well strategized moves
