In Part 1 and Part 2 of this series I demonstrated the 2 main methods of attacking a fianchetto'd position. In this final entry of the series I will share some games where I combined these methods.

Summary

Here I will reiterate the stages of attacking fianchetto systems.

Step 1) Control the center. A flank attack is much more likely to be successful if the center is under your control.

Step 2) Develop your pawns and pieces where they can provoke and target weak squares in your opponent's position. Ideally you want to use these weak squares as outposts for your pieces so be careful about invading too early if you lose control of these squares and/or help your opponent develop.

Step 3) Use Harry the h-pawn! If attacking your opponent's weak squares is not enough or not very realistic then you should definitely consider throwing the h-pawn (and sometimes the g-pawn) down the board.

Step 4) Play like a madman! Don't be afraid to sacrifice material if it means that you keep the initiative and/or slow down your opponent's counterplay. Play with unrelenting aggression whenever possible.
