Don't know what is expected of this blog. Chess wise I am not very good , i have some ideas but no focus really. I created a post called Feeneys gambit, which was (after figuring out what I though was a cool sequence of moves that reacurred a few times) rubished by a better player than me and got one other post  (I need to check that).
I dont know if I am writing this for myself or for other people ( ie me or my ego ha de ha de haw he:). We shall soon find out!
I am going to post another topic today. I will post it here in my blog and then the put a modified version on the forum called 'Good Chess Quotes' (not the blog though). And the topic iiiiiiissss:
What is chess?

Here are some quotes about what chess is (the nature of chess < was that nessacary ?).

Remember the king cannot check. So in a mad rush to checkmate your opponent do not get mated because that way you would have indirectly blocked your emergency exit also. - (from what may very well be the worst chess book in history)  -  All About Chess

Youth has triumphed.  -  (upon defeating 86-year-old Dirk van Foreest)  -  84-year-old Jacques Mieses

On the chessboard lies and hypocrisy do not last long.  -  Emanuel Lasker

I'm submitting a formal complaint to the players - the games are far too interesting. They should be rationed to only one exciting game per round, as it is not fair to chess journalists. - (after Round 2 of The London Chess Classic 2011)  -  John Saunders

Analysis is a glittering opportunity for training: it is just here that capacity for work, perseverence and stamina are cultivated, and these qualities are, in truth, as necessary to a chess player as a marathon runner.  -  Lev Polugaevsky

Anyone who wishes to learn how to play chess well must make himself or herself thoroughly conversant with the play in positions where the players have castled on opposite sides.  -  Alexander Kotov

The psychological effects of having to hold a prospectless position for what might seem an infinite amount of time does nothing to aid the defender's concentration. - Michael Stean

Unfortunately, many regard the critic as an enemy, instead of seeing him as a guide to the truth …  -  Wilhelm Steinitz

When the Chess game is over, the Pawn and the king go back to the same box.  -  Irish proverb

Oh! this opponent, this collaborator against his will, whose notion of Beauty always differs from yours and whose means (strength, imagination, technique) are often too limited to help you effectively! What torment, to have your thinking and your fantasy tied down by another person!"  -  Alexander Alekhine (I feel this one all the time!).

When the Chess game is over, the Pawn and the king go back to the same box.  -  Irish proverb
The beauty of a move lies not in its appearance but in the thought behind it.  -  Aaron Nimzowitsch

And my feeble contribution is-

' Chess. .  .   .    I wish I was better at it.'

Have you got any quotes?
Anything far more intelligent or interesting is certainly welcomed as is everything else.
