Must Read for Chess Players Struggling with Castling Tactics

Are you a chess player and hate it when your opponent castles? I used to too. But before we get into why this book is so good we need to understand castling.

Castling is when you switch places of the king and rook like this:

And in chess notation it is written as O-O

Castling is a tactical (short term) advantage defending your king with 3 pawns and a rook. But when you dig down deeper (such as reading this book) you'll understand why castling isn't the best option for the long game.

I'm not saying castling is bad, I am just saying that you need to plan when you use it and why because if you don't things can end up getting bad for you.

Now after I read this book and learned a lot of strategies to attack you opponent in a castle one of which is pressuring the g2 and h2 (if you are playing with black pieces and your opponent white and  g7 and h7 if you are playing with black pieces).

Only sometimes do these strategies work if you play with caution. But usually if you aren't able to play checkmate you will have some piece advantage (The lost pawns for black in the example above is just something i came up with quickly it may not happen in your game.)

After you read the book "Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess"  you will understand more deeply understand how to attack when your opponent castles and how to defend your castle and greatly understand the tactics and strategies behind castling. The book will also help/teach you better than this blog, such as attacking against castling is not just pressuring the three pawns defending your king when castling. The book will teach you so much more.
