USCF Blitz Tournament Review - April 15, 2020
USCF U1450 Tournament – May 15, 2020
From my understand, the first U1450 rated Blitz tournament that Chess.com has been able to host. Ideally, I try to avoid such tournaments as I learn more from playing players much higher than my rating, and I worry that unless I really focus and learn the proper lines, that it’ll only reestablish my bad habits. This tournament proved just that, as you’ll notice in game one that I played very poorly yet was able to win.
MATCH 1
The devastating move with his Bishop killed my chances of the match. Down a Rook and down on time, I needed to resign to save myself the misery.
MATCH 3
A nice and rather fun win for me here. Thought the match was actually fairly even until the end, where (s)he obviously didn’t see the pending mate.
Another fun mate here. Certainly a few massive mistakes on my part, except in the end it was a match won.
This is one of the worst losses I have had in a longgggg time. I was way ahead, and felt like I was crushing it, especially at the end game, only I got too excited, and got destroyed making stupid mistakes and then lost because I made a pre-move that led to my despise. I’m not even sure why I was doing it, as I had plenty of time, but I can only guess that I was feeling a bit too confident and lost my focus.
So, here it is…
Last match of tonight’s tournament, but another match that I ended up with losing in the endgame.
Overall, now a bad performance for me. I feel quite annoyed that two of the matches were ones that I had the advantage going into the endgame, only to blow it away on a bad pre-move and another of a lack of knowledge in the pawn structure.
That is it for tonight, so Stay Chess and Keep Playing !
