STOP Playing Alekhine Defense. It sucks.
The Alekhine is a very bad opening for black. Never play it, just play e5, it’s not that hard. If you have seen my last blog about me ranting on a National Master because of a youtube video, you know this might take a while to read. 👍
Ok. e4 Nf6. You’re just allowing e5, kicking the knight and owning the center. You don’t want to move your pieces more than 1 time in the opening, but this knight is getting an excercise. Naturally, you wanna get that knight out of there. And you only have 2 squares besides retreating your knight. You can go knight c4, which is responded with d4, taking the center,
Or you can go knight d5, stockfish recommendation if this somehow happens to you. You will then be hit with c4, attacking your knight again. The most common and stockfish favored response is knight b6. And after d4, white has control of the center, and a beautiful pawn structure and you’re left with a cornered knight with nowhere to run.
The center is lost and your knight is cooked. So don’t play Alekhine because it loses the center. Stay tuned, and play e5!
