Argentina Draws Against Azerbaijan in Third Round of Budapest Chess Olympiad

Candela Francisco drew her match as Argentina earned points against Azerbaijan in the third round of the 45th Budapest Chess Olympiad. The Argentine women's team tied 2-2 with the European side, bringing their total to 10 points, just behind leaders China and Vietnam (11.5). They will face Germany in the 4th round.

The 18-year-old from Pilar (2294) drew with black against international master Gunay Mammadzada (2433), Azerbaijan’s top player. María José Campos (2252) secured a win over Ulviyya Fataluyeva (2378), while Anapaola Borda Rojas (2216) split points with Khanim Balajayeva (2384). Claudia Amura (2191) lost to Gulnar Mammadova (2336).

Led by captain Sebastián Iermito, Argentina—ranked 26th—now has 10 points, tied with India, Turkey, the Netherlands, and Poland.
