You thought I was gone!? Return to blogging + best games!
Hello chess players, and welcome back to your favorite series on the internet!
Ever since I took an extended hiatus from blogging, I have been virtually absent for the past year of 2025.
The reason behind this was I wanted to improve on my chess game, to reach the goal of 1800.
And another reason? I became extremely disillusioned with chess.com.
So without further ado lets get in to the blog!

: Why did I leave chess.com?
The first thing I had to say was that 2025 did not start as a year that I expected. While in other fields of life I excelled and there was great success, Chess did not prove to be the fairytale it seemed. My rating suffered, my technique suffered, and my game suffered. I was struggling to find a suitable opening with black, and kept transitioning between Sicilian and caro-kann and kept losing mostly because, anyone under 1500 did not play theory and instead play traps. My OTB rating also suffered horribly because I was simply not good enough, and kept blundering in crunch time situations. This made me get extremely disillusioned with chess.com, thinking the rating system to be flawed, and caused me to shift my chess activities entirely to another platform, lichess.
The second thing was that I had planned a goal of getting to 1800 online rating at the end of the year. This seemed unlikely given that my rating was not increasing over 1000, so I decided to start anew at lichess. However, to avoid failure there too, I started taking chess lessons, learned a new opening for black, and generally improved my middlegame and endgame skills as that was where I kept making mistakes. This enabled me to drastically improve my game, and finally with a clear state of mind, allowed me to return to chess.com.

However, it was not easy, as I kept facing setbacks, and kept blundering from winning positions. T o avoid this, I started playing more otb and board chess to help me keep nerves at bay. Finally, in December of this month, I finally achieved my goal of 1800 rating on lichess, and crossed 1400 on chess.com
#3: The return
Finally, I managed to return to chess.com and started playing games at Team Pakistan. Right off the bat I managed to notice that I was regularly defeating 1600-1800 players, and getting close competition with 2000 players, indicating that my true rating was in the 1600-1900 range. However, I am still in the process of returning to regular play in chess.com, so it will take some time.
As for blogging, I am slowly and steadily returning the process, and Fridays and Sundays will be the days when blogs will be posed. Stay tuned for further content!
