To The Top: A thrilling attacking game!

Hi guys! Thanks for taking the time to read this blog! I'm going to go over a really fun and short game that I recently played. I ran it through Game Review, and also I'm going to analyze it myself. Also, you might have noticed I created a cool picture for this post. I was having trouble making one, and finally decided on a PowerPoint screenshot (You were expecting something a little more sophisticated, weren't you?).

So, let's get into the game.

The game starts with the Sicilian Defense: Closed, Traditional Line, 3.Nf3 e5 4.Bc4 d6. This is interesting, because the first four moves were book moves, which is unusual for me - I usually end up starting with an opening and then skipping right into blundering all my pieces. I like this opening because it opens up my pieces for development while controlling the center squares. Then, 5... Qxg5! I saw the hanging knight and took it, and this is when I got a position I could attack in. Personally, my style is attacking because I get bored easily, so I try to gain momentum in the opening to continue attacking my opponent's pieces. If I lose my momentum, I feel like I'm sure to blunder. The next move, g3 attacks my queen. In the game, I did not see that white was attacking my queen with their bishop. All I saw was the hanging pawn on g2.

Skip forward to 9...Bg4. This is my first "bad" move of the game. It was a good move. My idea here was  that I could create a discovered attack on white's king on my next move, skewering it, then taking the queen. White then forked my king and rook. I didn't notice this possibility in the game, but I didn't really care, because I was sure that I had a mate soon. Once they took the rook, I created a double discovered check, forcing white to give up their queen.

After I took the queen, white made the mistake of moving 13...Rxd1. This cut off an escape square for white's king, and hung a mate in two.

I found the mate, and had one of my favorite games I've played yet!

Thanks for reading guys, and have an awesome day! Also, please don't litter. Not littering is an easy way to help save animals. Thanks so much!
