Welcome back to the "Beginner's Advice" series! This time, were going to talk about the 2nd and 3rd opening plans that YOU should do in a chess game. Which you probably have guessed:

 Development

- of course, you need to develop your pieces as early as possible without wasting any moves, and make sure you use tempo or initiative whenever you can. But what are they?

Out of all the pieces that is attacking white's pawn, which one should you capture with?

If you captured with the knight on g8, then that is what you call an initiative because if you captured with another pawn, then you are wasting a move that you could have used in order to develop your knight.

But how about tempo you might ask?

In the position above, what is the correct way to develop in the Scandinavian? Of course, it is Nc3, why? Because you win a tempo by attacking a certain piece, most commonly a queen, in order for you opponent to waste time moving that piece while you gain the advantage by developing a piece.

  King Safety

- of course, during the opening stage of the game, you don't want your king to be in the center of the board. You have to use the method of castling during the opening stage. There are two ways you can castle:

In the famous Italian Game, castle kingside.

How about the King's Gambit, how do you castle queenside?

But you might be asking " We know all of this so why are you still talking about it? The answer to that will be shown right below this text.

In this position, which direction do have to castle? That will be up to you so if you haven't solved it yet then don't scroll down yet.

You're done? If you are, then you probably know the answer is queen side castling but why not kingside to defend the pawn? Well, let me give you this rule, never castle on the side where your opponent has an attack planned. It's common sense right? As long as your king is still alive, you are still alive. So, meaning, if you avoid the attack, you are still fine.

Well, what did we learn here? There are two things that we learned but let me summarize it with these two quotes that I made:

Be wise and don't waste time.

Be smart with your options.

Have fun trying to crack the message that I left with these quotes, and that's it for this lesson now were onto the... Middlegame???
