Pedro Damiano published this checkmate in 1512. Some of his writings and that of other chess masters was translated, compiled and annotated by Jacob Henry Sarratt in 1813.
Both white rooks are sacrificed on the empty square h8, then a forcing five-move combination by white administers a series of checks.
