Rook against Rook 3 - the long side attack

This is a drawing technique that the weaker side can use.

It works by retreating the king to the short side, and the rook to the longer side to give checks.

 

The king have to leave oposition because of threat of Ra8#. Ke8? also loses to 2. Ra8+ Kd7. Here is another plan.
 This continues the above situation.
 
If it is only two squares of room. The long side is too short.
